Brave Power Management Board
Project Overview
The Brave Power Management Board is a versatile and efficient power solution designed to seamlessly manage multiple power sources and deliver stable voltages for IoT and embedded systems. This board ensures reliable power distribution from LiPo batteries, solar panels (4V - 6V), or a Micro USB connection, efficiently regulating 3.3V, 5V, and 12V outputs.
Key Features:
1. Multi-Voltage Power Rails
- 12V & 5V Rail: Powered by the high-efficiency MT3608L 1.2MHz step-up converter, allowing seamless switching between 12V and 5V outputs via an SPDT switch. A voltage divider circuit fine-tunes the output voltage.
- 3.3V Rail: Utilizes the RT8059 high-efficiency PWM step-down converter, delivering 1A output from a 2.8V - 5.5V input range, making it ideal for LiPo battery-powered applications.
- Ultra-Low Loss Power Distribution: Integrated current-limiting circuitry prevents overcurrent and short circuits, ensuring system safety and longevity.
2. Smart Battery Charging
- The CN3063 constant-current/constant-voltage charger efficiently charges single-cell Li-ion and Li-Polymer batteries from either a solar panel or USB input.
- Features include adaptive charging, programmable charge current (up to 600mA), and real-time status indication.
- Dual diode protection ensures safe power direction from USB and solar inputs.
3. Future Enhancements
- MCU-based voltage monitoring for improved diagnostics and control.
- Automatic MOSFET switching to disconnect the solar panel when both USB and solar inputs are connected, optimising power flow.
